Hello Sweet Friends,
I have a really awesome DIY for you today using faux tin wall tiles from the local Dollar Tree. I just love the look of the wall tiles; they remind me of the vintage ceiling tiles that can be found in old farmhouses. If you love VINTAGE and you love FALL (as much as I do), this will be the perfect project for you! Follow along and see how easy this farmhouse PUMPKIN is to create.
Supply list
- one Dollar Tree wall tile
- one Dollar Tree pumpkin sign
- pen or marker
- scissors
- Mod Podge or glue
- white and brown paint
- paint brush
- twine
- glue gun
- variety of fall ribbons
- choice of fall accessories; leaves, berries, etc.
Begin this project by tracing the outline of the pumpkin onto the wall tile. It is easier tracing on the back side of the tile. Then cut along the outline.
After cutting the pumpkin shape, I found out that the adhesive paper on the back is only sticky around the perimeter, not the center of the tile.
Apply Mod Podge or other glue onto the pumpkin sign. Then press the wall tile cut-out onto the pumpkin sign. Allow to dry.
Paint the pumpkin with two coats of white chalk paint. Allow dry time between coats.
Lightly dry brush with brown paint or antique wax for a more vintage and distressed look. I just LOVE how this is looking!
Wrap twine around the stem, securing with hot glue where needed. Make sure that the beginning and end pieces of the twine are glued onto the back side of the pumpkin.
Create a bow by criss-crossing strips of coordinating ribbon and secure in the middle with a piece of twine. Dovetail the ends of the ribbons, if desired.
Glue the bow, fall leaves, and any other embellishment near the stem to finish the pumpkin!
I’m just thrilled with how this little project turned out. This pumpkin has a FALL, VINTAGE, FARMHOUSE vibe all rolled into one! So CUTE! It can be used for fall decor all the way up through Thanksgiving, if you ask me.
I’m really CRUSHING on this pumpkin (can you tell?)
I hope I’ve inspired you to try using the Dollar Tree wall tiles in your home decor and craft projects. It probably won’t be the last time you see me using them.
Until next time…… Happy Crafting!
