Wood Biscuit Flower Craft Idea

You are here: Home / Floral Crafts / Wood Biscuit Flower Craft Idea

Hello Sweet Friends,
Today’s craft project is a wood biscuit flower. Until recently I had never even heard of wood biscuits, much less crafted with them. But as it turns out, they make some pretty darn cute flowers.

The flowers can be painted just about any color or even covered with colorful paper. The possibilities are endless. I chose to make sunflowers for this project, because who doesn’t LOVE sunflowers? So that’s what I’ll be showing you how to make. I liked this craft idea so much, I will probably be sharing other wood biscuit crafts in the near future.

Follow along for all the details.

Supply list for wood biscuit flowers

  • wood biscuits
  • paint
  • twine
  • thrifted frame
  • book pages
  • Mod Podge
  • glue gun
  • E6000
  • embellishment for the frame

After I counted out my wood biscuits, I painted them with yellow Waverly chalk paint. I used 11 in each flower. Wood biscuits can be found at many different stores, but if you’re an Amazon shopper, here is my affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3HnkOAi

Using some of the Waverly antique wax, I added a little dimension to the flower “petals’.

Then I painted a few of the wood biscuits with green paint for leaves. Also pictured below are the centers for the flowers. They are made of some Dollar Tree twine rolled into a circle and glued together. I painted them with some of the antique wax as well to make them dark.

The flower stems were also made of twine, which was also painted with the green paint.

Adding the wood biscuit flowers to a thrifted frame

I’m going to back-pedal a little and give you a quick DIY for the frame I used for this project. I started with a thrifted frame; disassembled it and painted the frame, mat, and image (which was sturdy cardboard) with Waverly off-white chalk paint. Then I added book pages to the image with Mod Podge.

After arranging the flowers, stems and leaves in a pattern that I liked, I began gluing each piece with a combo of hot glue and E6000. Once everything was in place and the glue was dry, I assembled the frame back together.

And, LOOK how beautiful this turned out!

Of course, I couldn’t stop there. I decided to embellish the frame a little with a shabby bow and a little greenery.

This project turned out so cute, I just have to share a few more photos.

I sure hope you love this craft idea as much as I do. And I hope it inspires you to try a craft project using wood biscuits.

Until next time…… Happy crafting!

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
