Create Christmas Decor using a December Calendar Image

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Create Christmas Decor using a December Calendar Image

Hello Friends,

I’ve got a super FAST and super EASY DIY for you today. I will show you how to create Christmas decor using a December calendar image. This is my tenth post featuring a DIY project using an image from Jennifer Pugh’s 2023 Seasons of Joy calendar. I have tried to come up with a unique idea for each month, without duplication; although there have been a few very similar projects.

This project is a fairly simple idea: framing the December image and then adding some embellishment. I think it still turned out SUPER cute. So follow along for the easy instructions on how this Christmas decor was created.

Supply list

  • December calendar image
  • 12 x 12 frame
  • various Christmas ribbons, berries, faux foliage
  • small piece of wire
  • glue gun
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • iridescent glitter

I had the 12 x 12 frame and already painted a dark gray from a previous project. A dark frame seemed PERFECT for the December calendar image, so I left it as-is.

Using Mod Podge, I added some of the iridescent glitter to the cookies on the image. This gave it the LOOK of sugar crystals. So SWEET!

When the Mod Podge was dry, I trimmed the calendar page a little and placed it in the frame. It’s hard to see the “sugar crystals” in the photo, but I think is looks pretty TASTY.

The final flourish was to embellish with a bow, faux foliage, and faux berries.

To create the bow I just cut several different pieces of coordinating ribbon, criss-crossed them, and secured in the middle with a piece of wire. Then the bow was glued directly onto the glass in the frame.

Once the bow was glued on, I added the berries in the center of the bow. And also glued a few pieces of faux foliage to each side.

Didn’t this turn out super CUTE? And believe me, it was one of the easiest projects I have worked on. I think it would look so GOOD in my kitchen at Christmastime!

If you are thinking about recreating this project, you can find a nice, reasonably-priced, 12 x 12 frame from Amazon. Here is my affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3Q0r7f5 (I receive a small commission if you choose to make a purchase.)

I hope I’ve given you inspiration to get creative with calendar pages!

Until next time…..

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
