Hello Sweet Friends,
I’ve got another Dollar Tree craft idea for you today. Easy and budget-friendly; need I say more?
Fall craft items are coming out now, so I snagged this pumpkin wire form, some florals, and ribbons to create this Pumpkin Wreath, a perfect addition to your fall decor. So let’s get right to it.
Items you will need for this craft
- Dollar Tree wire pumpkin form
- twine, jute, or yarn
- assorted ribbons
- pipe cleaner or wire
- assorted fall florals, leaves, berries, etc.
- cinnamon sticks, optional
- glue gun, scissors, wire cutters
I started this project with the wire pumpkin form and some used baling twine from my parents’ farm. I love being able to reuse/repurpose something rather than dispose of it. This twine fit the bill perfectly; it’s durable and fade resistant, and perfect for this project. Any twine, string, or yarn could be used for the same look.
I just began by tying a knot, wrapping the twine around and around, until I ran out. Then I pieced another length of twine onto the end and kept going. It’s a little time-consuming and tedious, but not difficult at all.
I put a little dab of hot glue where the ends of the twine are tied together and cut off any pieces that are sticking out. There are still a few places where the twine looks a little “nubby” but I think that’s okay; it just adds to the rustic look.
I wrapped some heavy twine around the stem, but ended up using cinnamon sticks for the stem.
Next up, the ribbons!
(The polka dot ribbon is missing from this picture.)
To make my bow I tied three different ribbon into three separate two-loop bows.
And wired them together with a pipe cleaner.
Using the ends of the pipe cleaner, I wired the bow to the stem of the pumpkin.
Then decided to add a few more loops of ribbon.
I tied these loops with some of the twine but another pipe cleaner or wire could be easily used.
I tucked some of the ribbon loops and streamers inside of the pumpkin wire form, to give it a more three-dimensional look.
Separate the florals using wirecutters. I then started glueing some of the florals into the ribbon. (The sunflowers and leaves are from the Dollar Tree.)
I then added some filler florals and berries by glueing the stems into the bow.
At this point, I thought it was looking pretty good, but I thought some leopard print ribbon was in order!
I also glued some cinnamon sticks on the stem, making it taller, so the stem could be seen. I dovetailed the ends of the ribbons and glued some of them to the wire form to help them stay in place, see plaid ribbon above.
Wow! I’m loving how this looks.
I hope I have inspired you to make a Pumpkin Wreath for yourself. There are all kinds of possible color combinations for fall for this project. Many beautiful fall florals and ribbons out there. Time to get Craftsy!!
