Dollar Tree Pizza Pan Lemon Decor Craft

You are here: Home / Budget-Friendly / Dollar Tree Pizza Pan Lemon Decor Craft

Hello Sweet Friends,

When life gives you lemons, make LEMONADE! Or so the old adage goes. But I think lemons get a bad rep, when actually they are pretty awesome. There’s lemon pie, lemon cake, lemon drops, lemonade; squeeze a lemon wedge into iced tea or water, or onto a fish entree. Yum!!

I also think the bright sunny color of lemons makes a PERFECT theme to craft with. So when I found some lemon paper napkins at the local Dollar Tree, I knew I had to come up with a fun DIY project using them.

So today’s DIY project is a Dollar Tree pizza pan lemon decor craft. It’s super easy, and makes the perfect SUMMER decor piece. Follow along and see the simple steps to create this piece.

Supply list

  • Dollar Tree pizza pan
  • Dollar Tree lemon napkins
  • white paint
  • scissors
  • Mod Podge and brush
  • parchment paper and an iron to smooth out wrinkles, if needed
  • yellow paint
  • black paint
  • thin black Sharpie
  • short length of rope
  • ribbon
  • faux foliage and lemons
  • glue gun

It’s kinda hard to believe this CUTE project starts with a plain Dollar Tree pizza pan.

The first step was to paint it white. I used chalk paint, but if I had to do it all over again, I would just use spray paint. It would be much FASTER that way.

Unfold one of the lemon slice napkins and peel off the back layer, leaving only the top thin layer. Trim the outer edge of the napkin, so that it fits in the pizza pan.

Apply a liberal amount of Mod Podge to the pizza pan. Carefully lay the napkin in the center of the pan. Smooth out the wrinkles as much as possible. After drying, excess wrinkles may be smoothed by placing a sheet of parchment paper on the image and ironing it with a small crafting iron. (Here’s my affiliate link for a good one.)

Below you can see photos before and after using the iron. It really does make a difference.

For the next step, I painted some yellow around the inside perimeter of the pizza pan. Then painted black squares around the rim of the pan.

For the final flourish, I tied a bow and glued it to the top of the pan. The glued some faux foliage and faux lemons on each side. And, using a black Sharpie, I outlined the lemon for more definition.

I also glued a loop of rope to use as a hanger for the pan.

How SWEET is this lemon decor piece? I just LOVE it.

WOW! It turned out SO stinkin’ CUTE!

I hope the I’ve changed your mind about lemons and hope I’ve inspired you to create something similar for your home decor.

Until next time…..

Happy Crafting!

Pamela

Meet Pamela, the Creator

Pamela, Creator

Born and raised in rural, Missouri, I'm a wife of 30 years and mother to one adult son.

My interest in all things artsy-craftsy began as a young girl. If there was a craft kit for it, I've probably tried it: paint-by-number, latch-hooking rugs, candle-making, shrinky-dinks, string-art, etc. I loved them all! For many years I was able to express my creativity on-the-job as a florist, and love using silk florals in my home decorating projects.

I'm excited to share my crafting and home decorating ideas with you. I like finding that perfect thrift store item and crafting something new out of it, or giving that old piece of furniture a new life with a fresh coat of paint. I hope my projects will inspire you to get craftsy and create things to help decorate a home you love.

Happy Crafting!
