Hello Sweet Friends,
For today’s craft, I will show you how to revamp a decorative metal rabbit. I got this metal rabbit several years ago at Walmart (I think), and have used it for Easter/spring decor ever since. But I was getting tired of how it looked and thought a makeover was in order.
All the supplies I used were already on hand, so I did not have to buy anything new. So this project cost me a grand total of $0. You just can’t beat that!
Follow along to see the quick and easy steps I used to makeover a decorative metal rabbit.
Supplies needed
- metal rabbit
- Waverly plaster chalk paint
- Waverly antique wax
- paint brush
- ribbon
- floral and/or foliage embellishment
- scissors
- glue gun
As you can see, there really wasn’t anything wrong with this galvanized bunny, I was just tired of how it looked. So I decided to take it up a notch with some paint and embellishments.
To start with, I gave it a couple coats of off-white paint (Waverly plaster chalk paint) allowing it to dry between coats. Almost anything looks BETTER with a coat of white paint. Am I right?
Once the paint was dry, I randomly applied some of the Waverly antique wax. Before it had a chance to dry, I wiped some of it off with a wet wipe. This gave the rabbit an aged distressed look.
After the antique wax was dry, the rabbit was ready to some embellishments. I tied a simple bow and hot glued it to the rabbit’s neck.
To finish the project, I glued some small pieces of foliages and florals into the bow.
And, BAM, I had myself a super cute revamped Easter decor piece.
How CUTE is this rabbit now? I just LOVE how it turned out! And it was super FAST to do.
Don’t you just love taking an old piece and making something NEW out of it? It’s amazing what a little paint and a few embellishments can do.
I hope I’ve inspired you to revamp some of your out-of-date decor pieces.
Until next time…..
